Liquid Filter

The Peerless Liquid Filter is a single stage device, which flows outside to in, through a high surface area pleated medium. The filter can be oriented horizontally or vertically. The liquid flow enters the chamber in which the elements reside. The dirt accumulates on the outside, and the clean fluid passes through the central bore of the element and out, into the second chamber and out of the vessel.

The elements are optimized to maximize contaminant holding capacity within any given vessel diameter. The elements are ergonomic, with a handle at one end, and even when spent, can be removed by a single operator. Each element has a positive O-ring seal that is intended to prevent bypass even when installed in difficult conditions. The elements comprise “beta-rated” media, which offer reliable efficiency throughout its life.

Special designs are available that contain no metal componentry, which may be advantageous in high salinity applications.

Principle of Operation

As the liquid flows through the media, the solid contaminants in the fluid are trapped on the surface and within the depth of the media. The media is specifically formulated into a matrix that can withstand significant differential pressure. As the contaminants are captured, the resistance to flow increases, as evidenced by the differential pressure. The media comprises an axially pleated configuration, with high surface area, resting on an inner central liner.

The clean fluid flows radially into the central liner and then axially to the second chamber and then out of the vessel.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Elements are available, rated for 5–50-micron removal, at 99.9%+ removal efficiencies.

The materials of construction comprise cellulose media, nylon endcaps, buna O-rings and a central corrosion resistant steel liner. Options with alternative materials for O-rings and internal liners are available.

Inline Silencer

Inline Silencer

In refineries, chemical process plants, compressed air or gas plants, noise and vibration radiated by the piping or ducting network represent a major issue for equipment integrity, workers safety and community relationships.

CECO Burgess-Manning inline suction or discharge silencers are carefully custom engineered to reduce such noise issues for centrifugal compressors, roots blowers, control valves or large fans. Thanks to decades of experience and Burgess Manning legacy, our solutions will both reduce the sound level inside the pipes but also reduce the vibrations and solid-born noise propagation.

Design Principles

Typically, CECO Burgess-Manning inline silencers are divided into:

  • Absorptive / Dissipative Silencers

These silencers typically provide a very good broadband noise attenuation. Absorbing material is carefully selected for its acoustical properties and protected from flow erosion by a special fabric and perforated sheets to allow higher flow velocities and limit the size of the silencers.

Absorptive silencers can be provided complete with casing or as cartridges to be inserted into existing customer piping, between two flanges

  • Reactive Silencers

The silencers are made of different chambers and volume which are related by choke tubes or venturis. Reactive silencers can be tuned to address specific noise frequencies and can also treat some of the flow pulsations. They can be 100% reactive (with no acoustic fibers) or combined with an absorptive silencer to achieve a broader noise attenuation

Inline Diffusers and Spargers

Inline Diffusers and Spargers

Inline diffusers are very similar to the inlet diffusers of our vent silencer range of products, except they are located inside the piping network. Located downstream of a control valve, it will help in reducing the pipe noise and to achieve the required process pressure drop control. Spargers and Dump Tubes are used for steam expansion of by-pass turbine upstream the steam condenser in combined cycle gas turbine power plant and biomass power plant.

Typically, these need to be designed for liquid entrained gas flows which is very high demanding for the diffuser due to the erosion caused by the high velocity of the droplets.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Compact size for horizontal or vertical installation
  • Mechanical design and manufacturing as per ASME B31.1 or other international codes
  • PED 14/68/EU compliance whenever applicable
  • High acoustic performance
  • Guaranteed pressure drop
  • Vibration and solid-born noise control

Induced Gas Flotation

Induced Gas Flotation

Induced Gas Flotation Systems are used to remove oil and solids from produced water to ensure that it is safe for disposal and re-use. Based on design flow rate and footprint available, Peerless can offer

Vertical Compact Flotation Units or Horizontal Induced Gas Flotation Units.

Process Description

Eductor-Type Induced Gas Flotation

The water enters the unit through an inlet device and then flows down the length of the vessel through the four flotation cells. Each flotation cell is separated from the next by an underflow baffle, this baffle is designed to maintain uniform flow through the flotation cell.

The recycle stream is taken from treated water section of the IGF Unit using Recycle Pumps and pumped back to through the gas eductors. The flow of pressurized water through eductor suck gas from the Gas

Head Space within the IGF Unit and disperse the gas into the bulk fluid within the flotation cell. Each flotation cell contains a single Gas Eductor and a set of Gas Diffusers.

The entrained gas bubbles have the effect of floating oil droplets to the surface of the water where they form an unstable foam/scum layer on top of the liquid surface. The foam and oily water scum are removed by overflowing a weir into an oily water collection compartment.

Water leaving the final flotation cell passes around the under / overflow weir to the Buffer Water Section.

Once the two-phase liquid enters the cell the air (gas) is released as finely disseminated bubbles. In these conditions, the contaminating oil and/or solids adhere to the bubbles. This mass of rising bubbles in turn carries the contaminants to the surface where they are skimmed off. The flow through the unit is under flow, each cell being separated by a baffle which is open at the bottom. In operation, each cell removes 50% of the contaminants that enter each cell.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Removal of free oil-in-water to less than 15 ppm

Heater Treater

Heater Treater offers a reliable and cost-effective solution to heat crude and accelerate the separation of produced water and crude oil. Our Heater Treaters come with the options of mechanical separation using our high efficiency Colaescer Plate Packs or separation using electrostatic forces to meet stringent guarantees. These units are designed to process crudes ranging from Light Condensate to Heavy Opportunity Crudes.

Process Description

As the name suggests, these units have two sections as listed below:

  • Heating Section
  • Separation Section

Heating Section

In this section, crude oil enters the unit and is heated by fired tubes. Based on Head Duty we offer either U-tube or Multi-return Fired Tube design. The fuel which can be either gas, diesel, or heavy oil is burned inside the fired tubes using high efficiency burners. Our Heater Treater can be designed with Natural Draft or Forced Draft burners for efficient combustion. The heat breaks the oil-water emulsion and reduces the viscosity of crude oil. This enhances the efficacy of downstream separation section.

Separation Section

The crude from Heating Section flows to next section, separated by a baffle. As per process requirement, the separation section is offered with either a mechanical coalescer or Electrostatic grids. Crude oil and water get separated due to mechanical or electrostatic forces and leave the unit.

The unit is provided with Gas Boot to enable associated gas to get separated and released out of the unit.

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter

Activated carbon works via a process called adsorption, wherein a highly porous pattern in the granulated carbon media adsorbs and entraps contaminants from the water. The contaminant particle is diffused into a pore and become adsorbed. The higher the contaminant concentrations the greater the removal capacity of the activated carbon, however, it may require longer contact time with the media.

The same operation principle as the Multimedia Filter is applied to Activated Carbon Filter. Water flows from the top of the vessel passing through the activated carbon bed, treated water is collected from the bottom and backwash is initiated once the pressure drop increased or the efficiency of the filter declines.

CECO Environmental

APPLICATIONS

Another element is added to the filtration process using activated carbon, in granular form, as a filter media. GAC filtration is very effective in eliminating impurities and contaminants causing bad taste and foul odors, sediments, chlorine other organic compounds.

GAC Filters are commonly used for water purification, air filtering and other industrial gas processing:

  • Drinking water
  • Condensate water treatment
  • Applied after multimedia filter to protect RO membranes from chlorine
  • Industrial water treatment
  • Polishing filter for iron removal
  • VOCs & H2S gas removal
