Sand Wash Package

The Peerless sand washing package is designed to treat sand jetting water originating from the upstream separator vessels. These vessels will be internally fitted with a sand jetting system.

The inlet stream with high solids content passes through the desanding section of the sand wash vessel containing the desanding hydrocyclone liners.

In this section the solids are separated from the bulk water, then these solids fall by gravity into the sand wash vessel accumulation section while the bulk water exits the package via the flow control valve.

The flow of water through the desanding hydrocyclone is maintained constant. Flow control is achieved using a control valve located in the water outlet stream, this valve maintains constant differential pressure drop across (hence constant flow) the desanding liners irrespective of the operating pressure of the upstream separator vessel.

Over time the level of solids in the accumulation section of the sand wash vessel will increase and will eventually require cleaning and removal. The sand washing process can be initiated based either on the level of accumulated solids or on a set cyclic basis.

Leaving oily solids in the vessel for long durations (greater than 24 hours) is not recommended, due to their sticky nature this can lead to difficulties in removing the solids.

During sand washing the vessel is isolated from the upstream separators, wash water is used to recirculate the accumulated solids through the desanding hydrocyclone liners.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Hydrocyclones are effectively gravity separators that rely on the differential density between the particle and the water to allow separation.

The efficiency of the separation is governed by four main factors:

  • Droplet / Particle Size
  • Differential Density
  • Viscosity of the Bulk Fluid
  • Gravity (or Centrifugal Force)

The hydrocyclone has a tangential inlet. This creates a swirl in the hydrocyclone. The swirl and consequential centrifugal force is increased by the circular velocity of the water. This is caused by a higher flow rate in the hydrocyclone and hence a higher pressure drop.

Therefore, unlike all other gravity separation devices the hydrocyclone performs better with higher flow rates and hence lower residence time.

Reverse Osmosis Treatment

Reverse Osmosis Treatment

In the reverse osmosis membrane, the natural osmosis effect must be reversed; this can be achieved by overcoming the osmotic pressure. To force the feed water to flow towards the permeate water stream, the feed water must be pressurized at an operating pressure more significant than the osmotic pressure. As a result, the feed water is separated into two streams, permeate water (Low Salinity) and Brine Stream (High Salinity).

The System is mainly consisting of pretreatment, chemical dosing stations, membrane modules and a high-pressure pump. Membrane working pressure depends on the feed water quality and can reach 60 bar in the case of seawater.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Due to the spiral wound membrane, the system becomes very compact and require minimal footprint
  • Salt rejection can reach 99.7%
  • Can be delivered in containers
  • RO is standardized equipment for standard requirements, customized packages also available to meet performance guarantees and specification

RETOX Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) System: Tower-Type

RETOX Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) System: Tower-Type

Adwest provides tower RTO thermal oxidizer solutions with low cost and high benefit for ethanol, wood products, paint finishing, flavors & fragrances, food processing, building products, petrochemical and pharmaceutical applications. Our multi-tower technology can provide up to 99%+ emission reductions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), acid and malodorous process streams.

Operating flow control of a tower-type RTO Thermal Oxidizer – Inlet/Outlet/Purge

The VOC laden air is directed by the flow control (poppet/butterfly) valve mechanism to flow through up to 9 beds into the combustion chamber where the VOCs are purified. These RTO ceramic media beds are designed to provide up to 97% primary heat recovery and produce very high rates of heat transfer. This results in the air being preheated very close to the required oxidation temperature (1500 to 1700 degrees/f) by the time it reaches the combustion chamber requiring minimal auxiliary fuel input to the RTO system.

The clean air then exits the combustion chamber through an outlet bed or beds that have been previously cooled. As the air passes through these beds, it is cooled by the same heat transfer process. After passing through the outlet beds the air exits the RTO system at a temperature only slightly higher than the inlet temperature.

After several minutes the first set of inlet beds becomes depleted of heat while the second set of beds (outlet) becomes preheated with the heat liberated from the combustion process. At this point the flow of air through the beds is switched with the previous inlet beds acting as the outlet beds and the former outlet beds acting as the purge bed. The purged bed becomes the inlet bed. In this way each bed periodically extracts heat from the clean gas stream exiting the combustion chamber then releases this heat into the polluted gas entering the combustion chamber. A dedicated purge bed is utilized with tower RTOs to assure 100% capture of the VOCs and treatment on the inlet bed side. This method is thermal regeneration. The combination of thermal oxidation and regenerative heat recovery allows the RTO Thermal Oxidizer system to efficiently destroy VOC laden air with minimal operating costs.

Production and Test Separator

Production and Test Separator

Well fluid streams originating from wellheads consist of crude gas, oil, condensate, associated produced water and several other contaminants. The primary purpose of the Production Separators is to facilitate the bulk separation of gas and produced water from the crude oil prior to further processing. Production Separators are critical for any upstream oil and gas processing facility as they have a significant impact on the operation of downstream equipment.

Process Description

Production Separators are used for bulk separation of the gas from the crude and water in the incoming well fluid stream for production. These are high efficiency gas/liquid or gas/liquid/liquid removal units designed to handle a wide range of flow rates, including liquid slugs. Depending upon the GLR (Gas to Liquid ratio), available space and transportation limitations, the separators can be designed with vertical or horizontal configuration. In general, horizontal, and vertical separators are preferred for low and high GLR respectively.

Production separators are designed for retention times of 1 to 10 minutes in the separation compartment depending upon the crude oil properties. Peerless can design separators to achieve gas outlet performance of 0.1 US Gal/ MMSCFD (99.9% removal of liquid droplets of sizes > 8µm), water in oil of 2–5% PPM and oil in water of 500–1000 PPM. However, this can be customized based on specific customer requirements.

Test Separators are used to facilitate the periodic testing of one or more wells by separation of gas, crude oil and water from well fluid stream for detailed flow measurement and analysis.

The Peerless Separator package includes an end-to-end solution with following equipment:

  • Separator Pressure Vessel

Process Air Gas Silencers

Typically utilized for rotary blades or centrifugal blowers, Wakefield Acoustics offers a wide range of custom-designed process air or gas silencers. Each silencer is cost-effectively designed to meet the most demanding of customer noise specifications.

We offer several type of absorptive silencer construction dependent on application and structural requirements, from light gauge welded construction through to heavy plate welded construction.

INDUSTRIAL SILENCER
Dependent upon the level of acoustic performance required silencers can be designed with an absorptive outer layer, thus not presenting additional pressure onto the system. Where a high level of noise reduction is required, a central acoustic pod would normally be installed.

Given the high heat levels which can sometimes be generated in process air and gas lines, the silencers would normally be treated with a heat-resistant paint finish after fabrication.

Wakefield Acoustics is able to undertake pressure testing of silencers to ensure compliance with project requirements.
