Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter

Activated carbon works via a process called adsorption, wherein a highly porous pattern in the granulated carbon media adsorbs and entraps contaminants from the water. The contaminant particle is diffused into a pore and become adsorbed. The higher the contaminant concentrations the greater the removal capacity of the activated carbon, however, it may require longer contact time with the media.

The same operation principle as the Multimedia Filter is applied to Activated Carbon Filter. Water flows from the top of the vessel passing through the activated carbon bed, treated water is collected from the bottom and backwash is initiated once the pressure drop increased or the efficiency of the filter declines.

CECO Environmental

APPLICATIONS

Another element is added to the filtration process using activated carbon, in granular form, as a filter media. GAC filtration is very effective in eliminating impurities and contaminants causing bad taste and foul odors, sediments, chlorine other organic compounds.

GAC Filters are commonly used for water purification, air filtering and other industrial gas processing:

  • Drinking water
  • Condensate water treatment
  • Applied after multimedia filter to protect RO membranes from chlorine
  • Industrial water treatment
  • Polishing filter for iron removal
  • VOCs & H2S gas removal

Filter Silencers

Filter Silencers

Burgess-Manning standard models in the A and B Series offers sizes ranging from 2.500 to 81.500m3/hr. (1,500 to 48,000 CFM) with either single or dual stage filtration. Efficiencies range from 72% to 99% AC fine.

The assemblies can reduce intake noise from the source by up to 14 decibels and if additional acoustic reduction is required, other Burgess-Manning filter silencer elements can be added to the installation.

The Series A housing is designed to accept a conventional 50mm (2 inches) deep single filter element or for critical services, two 50mm (2 inches) deep filter elements in series. The B Series B housing is designed to accept a 300mm (12 inches) deep, high efficiency single filter element. An additional 50mm (2 inches) deep pre-filter element can be used in series if required.

When it is time to change out a filter element, unique spring loading catches simplify the removal and replacement of these elements with the most common filter elements stocked by Burgess-Manning for quick assembly and shipment directly to the jobsite.

Fiber Bed (or Candle Filters)

Fiber Bed (or Candle Filters)

Fiber Bed Mist Eliminators are also commonly known as fiber bed filters or candle filters. Our CECO Filters brand Fiber Bed Mist Eliminators are optimal for capturing and removing sub-micron liquid and soluble particulate from process gas streams, and they are used extensively by facilities seeking to reduce emissions across a wide range of industries. They achieve collection and removal efficiencies as high as 99.9% and enable the recovery of valuable material even in heavy liquid situations.

The filters are typically constructed in annular cylindrical form from 2 ft. to 20 ft. tall. The cylinder is formed by rolled screens, with both an outer and inner screen used. The filter material is placed between the inner and outer cylindrical screens to form the fiber bed. The diameter of the fibers, fiber material and the material’s packing density determines the operating parameters of the filter (such as pressure drop, collection efficiency, and gas through-put). Plates and flanges are attached to the ends to permit a variety of mounting and draining methods.

Eductor Venturi Scrubbers

Eductor Venturi Scrubbers

Scrubbers are used for gaseous and particulate control, by means of utilizing water, or other liquid, to remove pollutants from an exhaust stream.

With Venturi scrubbers, the dirty gas entering a scrubber is forced at high velocity through a venturi where it collides with scrubbing water. The tiny water droplets capture particles through impaction and diffusion. The dirty water is then removed in a cyclonic separator and discharged into a recycle tank. Some of the liquid is continuously purged to limit the solids concentration and allow recirculation back to the venturi section.

HEE-Duall brand Eductor Venturi Scrubbers have been engineered for maximum durability and reliability. Our design incorporates a high-pressure spray for maximum entrainment and scrubbing efficiency, and is the optimal choice where high temperatures, heavy contaminant loads and corrosive conditions are present.

For almost 50 years, the CECO HEE-Duall brand has been a worldwide leader in the design and fabrication of purification products.
