Ozone Disinfection

Ozone Disinfection

High ozone concentrations are produced by exposing air or oxygen to a controlled, high-voltage discharge at a set frequency. Water treatment plants then use this ozone to treat wastewater. After generating ozone gas, it is pumped into chambers to mix with water since ozone is an unstable gas that can destroy microorganisms cells. Ozone (O3) in water release the weaker oxygen molecule, penetrate the cell, and destroy the cell components (enzymes, proteins, DNA).

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Powerful oxidation agent leads to very effective disinfection with a shorter contact time than chemical disinfection dosing system
  • Compact design with minimal footprint
  • No chemical requirements
  • Easy operation with less human interference
  • More stable & provide higher residual time

Noise Havens

Noise Havens

In certain circumstances, it is not always feasible to treat the noise at source, particularly in environments where there are multiple noise sources contributing to the overall exposure experienced by operators. In such cases, noise havens can be installed which are designed to offer respite for operators in noisy environments.

Wakefield Acoustics designs, manufactures and installs a wide range of noise havens, and works closely with OEM’s, end users, contractors and consultants to address complex noise problems across a wide range of industries. Each noise haven is cost-effectively designed to meet the most demanding of customer noise specifications.

Wakefield Acoustic offers several types of noise haven construction depending on application and structural requirements, from modular panel to panel constructions through fully framed factory-assembled fabrications for ease of installation on site.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Single and double leaf, hinged and sliding doors for personnel access
  • Glazed viewing panels
  • Fan-assisted ventilation systems
  • Natural, free-flow, ventilation systems
  • Stand-alone air conditioning units

NOISE HAVENS FAQS

When it’s not practical to enclose noisy machinery or other noise sources, the next option is to create a respite space for the staff in noisy environments. These are called acoustic noise havens.

Moving Bed Bio-Reactor

Moving Bed Bio-Reactor

The moving bed bio-reactor (MBBR) process introduced by the late 1980s, is a biological membrane process that uses an activated sludge process but is enhanced by floating bio-carriers where biofilm can grow. MBBR is widely used for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.

Membrane Bio-Reactor

Membrane Bio-Reactor

The MBR process, introduced in the late 1960s, is a biological membrane process that uses an activated sludge process combined with a membrane separation process and is now widely used for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, especially when wastewater recycling/reuse is taking place.

An MBR process is mainly used for wastewater treatment by using membranes (flat sheet/submerged or tubular/pressurized) and integrating them with a biological process like a suspended growth bioreactor. The membranes are mainly utilized for filtration and removal of solids, which are generated during the biological process, which will result in a clear product.

Liquid Filter

The Peerless Liquid Filter is a single stage device, which flows outside to in, through a high surface area pleated medium. The filter can be oriented horizontally or vertically. The liquid flow enters the chamber in which the elements reside. The dirt accumulates on the outside, and the clean fluid passes through the central bore of the element and out, into the second chamber and out of the vessel.

The elements are optimized to maximize contaminant holding capacity within any given vessel diameter. The elements are ergonomic, with a handle at one end, and even when spent, can be removed by a single operator. Each element has a positive O-ring seal that is intended to prevent bypass even when installed in difficult conditions. The elements comprise “beta-rated” media, which offer reliable efficiency throughout its life.

Special designs are available that contain no metal componentry, which may be advantageous in high salinity applications.

Principle of Operation

As the liquid flows through the media, the solid contaminants in the fluid are trapped on the surface and within the depth of the media. The media is specifically formulated into a matrix that can withstand significant differential pressure. As the contaminants are captured, the resistance to flow increases, as evidenced by the differential pressure. The media comprises an axially pleated configuration, with high surface area, resting on an inner central liner.

The clean fluid flows radially into the central liner and then axially to the second chamber and then out of the vessel.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Elements are available, rated for 5–50-micron removal, at 99.9%+ removal efficiencies.

The materials of construction comprise cellulose media, nylon endcaps, buna O-rings and a central corrosion resistant steel liner. Options with alternative materials for O-rings and internal liners are available.

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter

Activated carbon works via a process called adsorption, wherein a highly porous pattern in the granulated carbon media adsorbs and entraps contaminants from the water. The contaminant particle is diffused into a pore and become adsorbed. The higher the contaminant concentrations the greater the removal capacity of the activated carbon, however, it may require longer contact time with the media.

The same operation principle as the Multimedia Filter is applied to Activated Carbon Filter. Water flows from the top of the vessel passing through the activated carbon bed, treated water is collected from the bottom and backwash is initiated once the pressure drop increased or the efficiency of the filter declines.

CECO Environmental

APPLICATIONS

Another element is added to the filtration process using activated carbon, in granular form, as a filter media. GAC filtration is very effective in eliminating impurities and contaminants causing bad taste and foul odors, sediments, chlorine other organic compounds.

GAC Filters are commonly used for water purification, air filtering and other industrial gas processing:

  • Drinking water
  • Condensate water treatment
  • Applied after multimedia filter to protect RO membranes from chlorine
  • Industrial water treatment
  • Polishing filter for iron removal
  • VOCs & H2S gas removal
