MS Super Venturi Scrubber

MS Super Venturi Scrubber

Scrubbers are used for gaseous and particulate control, by means of utilizing water, or other liquid, to remove pollutants from an exhaust stream.

With Venturi scrubbers, the dirty gas entering a scrubber is forced at high velocity through a Venturi where it collides with scrubbing water. The tiny water droplets capture particles through impaction and diffusion. The dirty water is then removed in a cyclonic separator and discharged into a recycle tank. Some of the liquid is continuously purged to limit the solids concentration and allow recirculation back to the Venturi section.

Liquid-Liquid Coalescer

The Peerless Liquid-Liquid Coalescer is a single stage device, which flows inside to out as the first stage and outside to in through the second stage, through a high surface area pleated medium.

The aqueous (continuous) phase enters the coalescing element and flows inside-to-outside.

The coalescing elements are made of Borosilicate Glass media comprising inorganic microfibers supported by polymeric supports in a spatially locked pore configuration with advanced separator layers to maximize droplet formation and disengagement. Small liquid droplets suspended in the continuous phase come together, or coalesce, as the mixture moves through the coalescer medium.

Contaminant-free liquid and large droplets of the dispersed phase flow toward the Separator Cartridges located next to the coalescer stage. Separator elements are made of Silicone-based media comprising organic microfibers in a spatially locked pore configuration to maximize water rejection.

The flow direction is outside to inside the coalescing element. The separator medium is hydrophobic preventing the aqueous/continuous phase from entering the separator. Only the non-aqueous continuous phase fluid flows through the separator. The two liquids are removed by separate drain connections.

Process Description

The basic principle comprises droplet capture and growth, and once the aqueous droplets are sufficiently large, they can be effectively rejected by a hydrophobic medium. The two-stage separator essentially skews conventional settling calculations by using advanced media technology to grow and separate the emulsified droplets.

Inline Silencer

In refineries, chemical process plants, compressed air or gas plants, noise and vibration radiated by the piping or ducting network represent a major issue for equipment integrity, workers safety and community relationships.

CECO Burgess-Manning inline suction or discharge silencers are carefully custom engineered to reduce such noise issues for centrifugal compressors, roots blowers, control valves or large fans. Thanks to decades of experience and Burgess Manning legacy, our solutions will both reduce the sound level inside the pipes but also reduce the vibrations and solid-born noise propagation.

Design Principles

Typically, CECO Burgess-Manning inline silencers are divided into:

  • Absorptive / Dissipative Silencers

These silencers typically provide a very good broadband noise attenuation. Absorbing material is carefully selected for its acoustical properties and protected from flow erosion by a special fabric and perforated sheets to allow higher flow velocities and limit the size of the silencers.

Absorptive silencers can be provided complete with casing or as cartridges to be inserted into existing customer piping, between two flanges

  • Reactive Silencers

The silencers are made of different chambers and volume which are related by choke tubes or venturis. Reactive silencers can be tuned to address specific noise frequencies and can also treat some of the flow pulsations. They can be 100% reactive (with no acoustic fibers) or combined with an absorptive silencer to achieve a broader noise attenuation

Inline Diffusers and Spargers

Inline Diffusers and Spargers

Inline diffusers are very similar to the inlet diffusers of our vent silencer range of products, except they are located inside the piping network. Located downstream of a control valve, it will help in reducing the pipe noise and to achieve the required process pressure drop control. Spargers and Dump Tubes are used for steam expansion of by-pass turbine upstream the steam condenser in combined cycle gas turbine power plant and biomass power plant.

Typically, these need to be designed for liquid entrained gas flows which is very high demanding for the diffuser due to the erosion caused by the high velocity of the droplets.
