RETOX Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) System: Tower-Type

RETOX Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) System: Tower-Type

Adwest provides tower RTO thermal oxidizer solutions with low cost and high benefit for ethanol, wood products, paint finishing, flavors & fragrances, food processing, building products, petrochemical and pharmaceutical applications. Our multi-tower technology can provide up to 99%+ emission reductions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), acid and malodorous process streams.

Operating flow control of a tower-type RTO Thermal Oxidizer – Inlet/Outlet/Purge

The VOC laden air is directed by the flow control (poppet/butterfly) valve mechanism to flow through up to 9 beds into the combustion chamber where the VOCs are purified. These RTO ceramic media beds are designed to provide up to 97% primary heat recovery and produce very high rates of heat transfer. This results in the air being preheated very close to the required oxidation temperature (1500 to 1700 degrees/f) by the time it reaches the combustion chamber requiring minimal auxiliary fuel input to the RTO system.

The clean air then exits the combustion chamber through an outlet bed or beds that have been previously cooled. As the air passes through these beds, it is cooled by the same heat transfer process. After passing through the outlet beds the air exits the RTO system at a temperature only slightly higher than the inlet temperature.

After several minutes the first set of inlet beds becomes depleted of heat while the second set of beds (outlet) becomes preheated with the heat liberated from the combustion process. At this point the flow of air through the beds is switched with the previous inlet beds acting as the outlet beds and the former outlet beds acting as the purge bed. The purged bed becomes the inlet bed. In this way each bed periodically extracts heat from the clean gas stream exiting the combustion chamber then releases this heat into the polluted gas entering the combustion chamber. A dedicated purge bed is utilized with tower RTOs to assure 100% capture of the VOCs and treatment on the inlet bed side. This method is thermal regeneration. The combination of thermal oxidation and regenerative heat recovery allows the RTO Thermal Oxidizer system to efficiently destroy VOC laden air with minimal operating costs.

RECYCLO-SEP®

RECYCLO-SEP®

Take the “Waste” Out of Waste Water With a RECYCLO-SEP® Recycler.

The RECYCLO-SEP® is a fully automatic wastewater recycling unit that processes dirty water created by cleaning equipment into water clean enough to be reused. The process flow rates are 6 GPM for the RECYCLO-SEP®.

Model 2000 and 12 GPM for the RECYCLO-SEP Model 2800.

The RECYCLO-SEP® has been proven especially effective in removing oils, grease, heavy metals, solids and other contaminants from water used in conjunction with pressure washers, steam cleaners or similar equipment. The system maintains a proper pH balance so that the recycled water may be safely reused. The RECYCLO-SEP® separator eliminates pollution problems by taking the waste out of waste water through recycling and reuse. The waste residue is reduced to a small, easily disposable semi-dry cake.

The principal system components consist of four vertically skid mounted tanks equipped with a feed pump, process pump, cartridge filter, three metering pumps, and associated valves and controls. The four processing tanks include the first stage tank, the flocculate tank, in which the majority of oil and solids are removed from the wastewater influent. The second stage, the separator tank, continued separation of remaining residual oils and solids. The third stage, the surge tank, provides a supply of clarified water for operation of the process pump. The fourth stage, the storage tank, stores the clean, processed water ready to be reused.

OLEFIN Flue Gas Management Systems

OLEFIN Flue Gas Management Systems

Olefin production is one of the highest energy consuming processes in the chemical industry. The core process for olefin production is steam cracking, which converts hydrocarbon feedstocks (naphtha, propane, ethane, etc.) to olefins (ethylene, propylene, etc.) and related products. The worldwide demand and production of olefins are one of the highest compared to other chemicals.

The flue gas management systems integrate a gas turbine within for example an ethylene plant. Process gasses which are partially flared off are used to fire a gas turbine instead. The benefits are independent electric power supply and/or gas compression.

The Integrated Flue Gas Management Systems consist of:

  • A gas Turbine sized for your system
  • A full system of control valves to assure safe and efficient operation
  • An air mixing system to ensure correct O2 levels for the burner system
  • A Bypass system for stand-alone Gas Turbine Operation
  • An emergency air intake system to accommodate stand-alone operation of the heater / process units

NOISE HAVENS FAQS

When it’s not practical to enclose noisy machinery or other noise sources, the next option is to create a respite space for the staff in noisy environments. These are called acoustic noise havens.

Inline Silencer

Inline Silencer

In refineries, chemical process plants, compressed air or gas plants, noise and vibration radiated by the piping or ducting network represent a major issue for equipment integrity, workers safety and community relationships.

CECO Burgess-Manning inline suction or discharge silencers are carefully custom engineered to reduce such noise issues for centrifugal compressors, roots blowers, control valves or large fans. Thanks to decades of experience and Burgess Manning legacy, our solutions will both reduce the sound level inside the pipes but also reduce the vibrations and solid-born noise propagation.

Design Principles

Typically, CECO Burgess-Manning inline silencers are divided into:

  • Absorptive / Dissipative Silencers

These silencers typically provide a very good broadband noise attenuation. Absorbing material is carefully selected for its acoustical properties and protected from flow erosion by a special fabric and perforated sheets to allow higher flow velocities and limit the size of the silencers.

Absorptive silencers can be provided complete with casing or as cartridges to be inserted into existing customer piping, between two flanges

  • Reactive Silencers

The silencers are made of different chambers and volume which are related by choke tubes or venturis. Reactive silencers can be tuned to address specific noise frequencies and can also treat some of the flow pulsations. They can be 100% reactive (with no acoustic fibers) or combined with an absorptive silencer to achieve a broader noise attenuation
