Acoustical Shrouds

Acoustical Shrouds

Acoustical shrouds can be applied on/around surfaces and equipment that emit too much noise.  Our shrouds can be used to meet your near field and or far field noise requirements.

With our experience we can help you select which surface or surfaces to cover with shrouds and in case another solution might be beneficial (like moving a silencer more upstream) we will advise that as well as – we look at the overall optimization of your system – we have a broad range of products to compliment the shroud.

Our shroud solutions are modular and can be connected direct to your systems, like HRSGs, or as a free-standing construction with a support structure.  Being modular they are easily demounted and reinstalled as and where required to facilitate access to shrouded elements also. The shrouds are designed in a way to provide for natural ventilation to occur preventing heat buildup.  Our engineers will be actively engaged in finding solutions for all interface requirements – as we do understand your challenges.  We even have developed a solution where we can supply a shroud that you can attach / connect to your HRSG wall without welding being required on site.

Other options from our portfolio are freestanding walls when the enclosure cannot be connected to an existing structure.

Acoustical Consultancy

Acoustical Consultancy

Burgess-Manning is the pioneer of noise control. Since 1928 we supply acoustical solutions that minimize noise, and the impact noise has on the surroundings of an industrial plant. Often this is done in a new situation, and you work based on assumptions.

On the other hand, we also see that there are acoustical challenges in existing situations. Or plant owners want to take responsibility and reduce the noise pollution for their employees and the environment. In these existing situation or 90+ years of experience in acoustical solutions comes in handy. To support you we can do an acoustical site survey to determine what are the big sources of noise and advise on the best possibilities to mitigate the noise.

When the noise source is clear our site survey can support you to determine how big the challenge is and what is required to resolve this issue.

Our engineers are capable of:

  • On site sound level measurements
  • Noise prediction calculations
  • Detailed advise about the steps to undertake to reduce your “noise” problem

Acoustic Plant Screens

Acoustic Plant Screens

Wakefield Acoustics design, manufacture and install a range of acoustic plant screens for industrial and commercial applications.

In many instances, it is not always practical to install full acoustic enclosures to reduce noise emissions. This can be due to ventilation requirements, or sometimes the sheer size or complexity of the noise source. In these instances, an acoustically absorbent screen or acoustic barriers can be erected to reduce sound transmission, which absorbs noise to provide a high level of noise reduction.

INDUSTRIAL ACOUSTIC SCREEN
We work with clients to solve noise problems across a number of industries, from industrial manufacturing facilities to contractors with acoustic screens for construction sites on new commercial and residential developments. Our acoustic screen solutions are cost-effectively designed to meet the most challenging of acoustic requirements.

Acoustic Materials

Acoustic Materials

In addition to our wide range of acoustic products, Wakefield Acoustics also supplies a wide range of carefully selected materials and acoustic blankets. These products have been chosen not just for their acoustic performance but in some cases for their thermal conductivity and anti-static properties.

Our range of materials includes various types of acoustic foam and damping sheets, along with composite products that are used to create acoustic ‘blankets’ where a minimal reduction is required from industrial machinery. Acoustic blankets typically comprise a mass barrier core and acoustically absorbent insulation, which are stitched into a flexible outer PVC-coated polyester sheet. The blankets would normally be fitted with eyelets or Velcro strips to allow ease of installation or fitting.

Acoustic materials are sometimes installed in conjunction with our acoustic enclosure range and typical uses would be acoustic ‘skirts’ formed around a machine skid arrangement, or acoustic ‘curtains’ to close off conveyor apertures through the side wall of an enclosure.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

TYPES OF MATERIALS THAT WE CAN PROVIDE ARE LISTED BELOW:

  • Acoustic blankets
  • Pipe and duct lagging
  • Industrial wall lining
  • Acoustic Foams
CECO Environmental

APPLICATIONS

  • The reduction of noise breakout from machinery and pipework where the performances required do not dictate use of a paneled enclosure system.
  • The introduction of acoustic absorption into highly reverberant areas where it is not practical or feasible to treat the noise at source. Such inclusions if carefully and correctly designed can effectively reduce the noise levels by several decibels.

Acoustic Louvres

Acoustic Louvres

Wakefield Acoustics’ range of acoustic louvres has been specifically designed to reduce noise from externally mounted plant and equipment, and general ventilation systems.

We’re one of the UK’s most trusted acoustic louvre suppliers with over 40 years’ experience, and we’ve also installed acoustic louvres across the globe.

ACOUSTIC VENTILATION LOUVRES
In order to reduce noise emissions from ventilation systems serving buildings and process equipment, acoustic louvres are an ideal solution offering a level of weather protection in conjunction with noise reduction. Acoustic ventilation louvres are also ideal for use as barriers or enclosures around plant items which require a high level of airflow is required, in conjunction with noise reduction.

Wakefield Acoustics work closely with end users, contractors and consultants alike to address acoustic issues across a wide range of industries. Each of our acoustic louvres products are cost-effectively designed to meet demanding requirements.

A typical usage for ventilation louvres would be to help reduce factory noise.

EXTERNAL LOUVRE PANELS
We design and supply acoustic external louvre panels to suit any size aperture, with larger items normally supplied in modular form for assembly on site.

With external acoustic louvre panels, fully integrated support steelwork systems can also be provided, which are designed to withstand wind loads.

ACOUSTIC LOUVRE SCREENS
Screens are a vital component of any acoustic louvre. An acoustic louvre screen reduces noise by diverting plant and generator sound away from noise-sensitive areas.

In order to ensure a quality installation and to guarantee noise reductions, our range of acoustic louvres has been independently tested by Salford University to BS ISO 10140-2:2010.

OUR ACOUSTIC LOUVRES
Standard single-bank acoustic louvres are available in depths of 150mm and 300mm, with high-performance chevron-style louvres also available at an overall thickness of 300mm and 600mm. Non-standard louvre depths can also be accommodated to suit specific applications.

Louvres can be manufactured from a variety of materials including pre-galvanized sheet steel, pre-coated / colored steel, stainless steel or aluminum.

Contained within the casing are a series of horizontally mounted blades set at a standard pitch of 150mm, filled with a dense mineral fiber acoustic insulation. Blades are formed with an integral rain lip to improve weather protection.

The acoustic insulation material is odorless, rot-proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mold or bacteria. Where products are installed in an external application, or subject to high levels of moisture, the acoustic media can be further wrapped in an acoustically transparent polyester
film.

For mechanical protection, the media is faced with a layer of perforated steel.

ACOUSTIC LOUVRE OPTIONS
Louvres can be supplied with a variety of manufacturing options to suit specific requirements:

Birdguard
Formed from welded mesh fitted to the rear of the louvre module. As a standard, the guard would be securely mounted to the louvre cassette, though can be removable where required

External flashing (normally supplied loose)
Folded sheet metal facing ‘flange’ / flashing to provide masking of an aperture around the perimeter of the louvre. Flashing finished to suit main louvre.

Mounting frames/secondary support steelwork
A variety of support frames are available where building facades are unable to support the imposed weight of an acoustic louvre.

Doors
Louvred doorsets are manufactured with louvre cartridges mounted into a steel hollow section framework for stability and integrity. Standard doorsets are supplied with a peripheral frame for fitting into a builders work opening, complete with butt hinges, a D-handle and deadlock with internal thumb turn.

Industrial/Heavy Duty
To suit demanding industrial applications louvre modules can be fabricated as full welded units for increased durability.

Acoustic Blankets

Acoustic Blankets

Acoustic blankets are typically used as a wrap-around solution to reduce noise from fixed plant and machinery including pumps and fans.

Acoustic sound blankets offer a flexible solution, allowing easy removal for access to equipment. Industrial acoustic blankets can be fitted with Velcro strips or eyelets to allow the formation of full acoustic jackets.

HOW DO ACOUSTIC BLANKETS WORK?
When fitted directly around equipment, acoustic blankets offer a lower level of noise reduction compared to a fixed panel acoustic enclosure, though blankets are relatively lightweight and offer a flexible alternative where minimal noise reductions only are required.

Acoustic blankets for machines offer a custom solution to wrap around complex shapes such as pumps, machinery and fans.
