Acoustic Enclosures

Acoustic Enclosures

Wakefield Acoustics is a UK-based acoustic enclosure manufacturer with extensive experience in designing, manufacturing and installing soundproof acoustic enclosures and industrial noise control solutions.

NOISE ENCLOSURES
From standard proprietary models through to custom-designed full turn-key solutions, we work closely with OEMs, end users, contractors and consultants to address complex noise problems across a wide range of industries, applications and noise sources.

Our experience ranges from close-fitting enclosures for fans, condensing units and pumps to large CHP and gas and diesel generator acoustic enclosures.

COMPRESSOR ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES
Our acoustic enclosures are well suited to reduce noise from industrial air compressors, both inside and outside, often used alongside other products like Acoustic Louvres. Compressor acoustic enclosures can be manufactured in a range of sizes, thicknesses and bespoke specifications.

GENERATOR ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES
Using a soundproof generator enclosure is the best way to address the challenges presented by noisy gas and diesel generators.  Our experienced engineers can provide generator acoustic enclosure design for projects of all sizes across a range of industries and sectors.

ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURE DESIGN
As acoustic enclosure design experts, each soundproof acoustic enclosure is cost-effectively designed to meet the most demanding of customer noise specifications often associated with complex application, access and/or environmental challenges.

SOUND ENCLOSURE PANELS
All of our acoustic enclosures are built using tested sound enclosure panels which provide effective noise insulation.

Depending on noise specification, customer application, access and structural requirements we offer several types of enclosures from site-installed modular constructions, fully framed fabrications and one-piece drop-over units.

OUR ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES
Our enclosures are available with panel thicknesses of 50mm, 75mm and 100mm as standard, though thicker panels can be designed for specific applications where a higher level of noise reduction, or increased absorption is a necessity.

Acoustic enclosures can be manufactured from a variety of materials including pre-galvanized sheet steel, precoated/colored steel, stainless steel or aluminum. The outer panel casing is formed from a folded steel tray, which fully encapsulates a layer of absorptive acoustic media (mineral wool) and sound-deadening layers.

The acoustic media is faced with a glass fiber scrim as standard and protected by a perforated steel sheet.

Acoustic insulation materials are odorless, rot-proof, non-hygroscopic, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mold or bacteria.

INDUSTRIAL ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES
Our range of acoustic enclosures is designed and manufactured to meet both noise reduction specifications and client-specific access and maintenance requirements. In order to create a full enclosure, acoustic panels are mounted into a support system designed specifically to suit access or maintenance requirements.

Small close-fitting enclosures would be normally be formed using a bolted panel-to-panel construction. Large acoustic canopies and screens would comprise of a skeleton frame fabricated from steel hollow sections or beams, with panels retained by bolted cleat plates or a series of folded C-channels and H-sections depending on future access requirements.

In addition, acoustic enclosures can be provided with lighting, electrical systems and fire and gas detection systems in line NORSOK specifications.

ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES FAQS

An acoustic enclosure, also known as a sound or noise enclosure or soundproof enclosure, refers to soundproof chambers to either contain or prevent the transmission of noise. These enclosures come in various sizes, ranging from small and portable units to large-scale structures.

Our experience ranges from close-fitting enclosures for fans, condensing units and pumps to large CHP and gas and diesel generator acoustic enclosures.

Ideally, the acoustic enclosure would reduce noise levels below 80 dB (A), which is the lower exposure action value of the current Control of Noise at Work Regulations in the UK.

Acoustic Doors

Acoustic Doors

SOUNDPROOF ACOUSTIC DOORS
Wakefield Acoustics supplies a range of high-performance soundproof acoustic doors offering both acoustic integrity and functionality. Our doors are normally integral to a full acoustic enclosure, though can be supplied as individual elements to fit into a builder’s work opening.

Our acoustic doors are specifically designed to meet customer’s requirements, and are supplied with perimeter frames and a range of furniture options.

ACOUSTIC SLIDING DOORS
Where space is at a premium, sliding acoustic doors can be supplied with a variety of sealing mechanisms.

To complement our range, acoustic louvred doors complete with perimeter frames are also supplied by Wakefield Acoustics. The fully louvred door ensures ventilation air for plant spaces.

ACOUSTIC DOORSETS
Doorsets can be manufactured with a variety of options including vision panels, overpanels, ventilation apertures/louvres and removable threshold bars amongst others.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Single and Double Leaf doors
  • Sliding doors
  • Various construction materials such as pre-galvanized sheets and stainless steel
  • Removable transoms

ACOUSTIC DOORS FAQS

Acoustic doors are designed to prevent sound from passing through a door. They are commonly used in noisy industrial environments as part of a full soundproof enclosure or can be supplied as individual elements

Acoustic Containers

Acoustic Containers

Wakefield Acoustics manufactures bespoke and semi-standard acoustically insulated containers for a range of industrial noise control applications. Whether the requirements are a CHP acoustic container or gas/diesel generator acoustic container, our units are designed with structural baseplate, insulated external panels and roof, and integrated ventilation systems. Lifting lugs are tested and certified to allow safe lifting complete with housed plant and equipment.

The load-bearing roof of our containers can be designed to support equipment including exhaust silencers, heat exchangers and other equipment as required.

The outer walls and roof of the containers are specifically designed to achieve project acoustic requirements. Where low noise levels are required, ratings down to 60dBA can typically be achieved with enhanced acoustic treatment, including lined base sections.

Ventilation for industrial acoustic containers can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with roof-mounted penthouses, separate inlet ventilation pods, and standard attenuator units, all of which can be incorporated into the design.

GENERATOR ACOUSTIC CONTAINERS
Maintenance facilities within a generator acoustic container can include fully tested and certified lifting beams, removable end walls or ventilation modules for major plant removal, along with double leaf access doors positioned to suit.

Wakefield Acoustics are also able to design and manufacture switchgear acoustic containers and UPS acoustic containers.

Where required, lighting, small power and fire and gas detection equipment can be installed in our works, saving vital time on site.
