Gas Sweetening
H2S and CO2 are most common sour (acid) gas contaminants present in natural gas. In order to make natural gas fit for commercial usage, it is mandatory to remove these containments. The process of removing H2S and CO2 from natural gas is called gas sweetening. Depending upon the process requirement, there are various technology available to remove H2S and CO2. Amine based is the most economical and widely used process for Gas Sweetening. However, for smaller flow rate Membrane based or solid bed adsorbent man also be used. To have an optimum design, the type of amine selected is very important. CECO Peerless can assist customers not only with the correct selection of amine but also design of units from FEED to Commissioning Stage. We can offer complete package design using any the following amine types:
  • MEA (Mono- Ethanol amine)

Gas Dehydration
Gas Dehydration is a widely used application in Gas Processing Plants. This process is carried out to remove moisture from natural gas to achieve the required water dew point for pipeline specification or for downstream processing like NGL extraction. This process is required to prevent hydrates formation at low temperatures and reduce corrosion problems due to the presence of carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulfide present in natural gas. Based on the required outlet gas specification, Gas Dehydration process is classified into the following processes:
  • Glycol Based Gas Dehydration Process
  • Molecular Sieve Gas Dehydration Process

Typical Applications:

  • Offshore – Process Platforms⁄FPSO⁄MOPU

Mercury Removal
Mercury causes severe hazardous corrosion (liquid-metal embrittlement) of aluminum heat exchangers in cryogenic plants, pipes, fittings and control valves containing non-ferrous metals by amalgam formation. Being toxic, Mercury can easily dissolve in aqueous streams or produced water streams and poison catalysts at the downstream equipment. Mercury removal is a three-stage process that starts with natural gas flowing into the inlet gas coalescer for bulk removal of liquid followed by fine removal of liquid in the coalescing section. Liquid droplets of sizes more than 0.3μm are removed to ensure dry gas flows into the mercury removal bed. This is vital for the long life of the bed media. In the second stage, this liquid-free gas flows into the mercury removal unit, where the elemental mercury is absorbed by proprietary media absorbent (mixed metal sulphides). In the third stage the mercury-free gas is taken to an After Filter to remove any solid dust carried over from the mercury removal bed unit.

Typical Applications:

  • Offshore—Process Platforms, Wellheads and FPSOs
  • Onshore—Oil and Gas Processing Facilities, EPF

Fuel Gas Conditioning System
Fuel Gas conditioning (FGC) system is primarily provided to treat fuel gas by removing any solids and liquid content and set the gas process conditions such as temperature and pressure to meet emission norms and extend the life of downstream equipment. If unconditioned process gas is sent directly to the gas engine turbines⁄generators⁄burners, it can damage their internal components. Hence, process gas, sourced from a slip-up stream of GDU or sales gas pipelines, requires pre-treatment prior to being used as fuel gas. Presence of even a minute quantity of liquid droplets or solids can severely damage the combustion engine of the turbines, resulting in failure of the equipment and voiding its warranty.

Typical Applications:

  • Offshore Process Platforms⁄Wellheads⁄FPSO⁄MOPUs⁄Drilling rigs
  • Onshore – Oil & Gas Processing, Early Production, Well Testing, Refineries, Gas plants, Produced water treatment units

Deoiling Hydrocyclone
The deoiling hydrocyclone vessel is designed to reduce the oil content of the incoming produced water prior to entering an optional degasser vessel. The hydrocyclone arrangement allows easy access to the liners for inspection, installation and replacement. On entering the cyclone tangentially, the fluid begins to spin. This creates a radial force that directs the heavier phase towards the edges of the cyclone and then out of the cyclone underflow owing to differential pressure. The less dense phase is concentrated in the centre of the cyclone before passing out of the cyclone overflow, again due to differential pressure. Hydrocyclones are effectively gravity separators that rely on the differential density between the oil droplet and the water to allow separation.

Typical Technology Applications:

  • Produced water from Oil fields (Onshore & Offshore)

Dissolved Gas Flotation (DGF)
Peerless Dissolved Gas Flotation units utilise a recirculation pump system to introduce micro-bubbles, enhancing the separation surface area improving the oil and solid separation performance. The Peerless DGF has a sophisticated pumping mechanism to generate micro-bubbles. These pumps utilize dual sided impellers to draw in vapour and precisely mix it with the liquid. The vapour/liquid mixture is sheared and compressed in the pump to enhance creation of micro-bubbles before this gas-enriched mixture is de-pressurized and discharged to the flotation chamber. The dense bubble formation lifts oils and solids to the liquid surface where they are ultimately skimmed off & discharged. This configuration eliminates the need for a separate dissolution vessel as found on many traditional dissolved air flotation systems.

Desanding Cyclone
Desanding Hydro-cyclones are pressure-driven cyclonic separators that utilizes pressure drop across the unit to force the separation of the solids from the bulk phase produced water or condensate. The feed stream, containing high amount of solids⁄ sand, enters the hydrocyclone through a tangential inlet under a pressurized condition. This is where it is forced into a spiral motion by the hydro-cyclone’s internal profile. The internal conic shape of the liner causes the spinning⁄ swirling effect to accelerate (which effectively creates) high centrifugal forces, causing the denser solid particles to move to the outer wall of the hydrocyclone liner, while the lighter phase water or condensate is concentrated to the central core of the liner. Solids continue to spiral down along the outer wall of the hydrocyclone to the bottom exit which is typically collected in an accumulator (could be integrated or a separate unit) for periodic disposal. The “desanded” water in the central core section reverses direction and is forced out through the central vortex towards the top of the Hydrocyclone.

Typical Applications:

  • Wellhead solids removal in multiphase flow
  • Protection of equipment from blockage or erosion
  • Sand cleaning for overboard discharge
  • Polishing of water prior to re-injection

Ceramic Membrane
Fluid flows through the tiny pores in the ceramic filter element and particles larger than the pores of the ceramic filter are trapped on the surface. The first ceramic membranes were produced in the 1980s, Ceramic Filtration made from inorganic materials (such as Alumina,  Titania, Zirconia oxides, Silicon Carbide ). CM is now progressively recognized in water treatment industry. It is used for oil-water separation, sediment filtration, water purification and for chemically aggressive fluid and high temperature applications. Ceramic Membrane is a good choice for extreme applications.

Typical Applications

  • Industrial wastewater
  • Dairy, Food & Beverage Industries
  • High temperature Condensate Water
  • Oil & Gas
  • Textile Industry

Demineralization by Ion Exchange Resin
The Demineralization process is the removal of dissolved minerals that form salts when water is evaporated. These salts have corrosive properties and must be removed for industrial processes so as to protect downstream equipment from corrosion, scale deposit and others. In ion exchange demineralization applications, ion exchange resins will remove all mineral salts, except for traces of sodium and colloidal (undissolved) silica. Typical applications targeted for removal are calcium (Ca++), Magnesium (Mg++), Sodium (Na+), Potassium (K+) and Iron (Fe++). Typical anions targeted for removal are Bicarbonate (HCO3-) Chloride (Cl-), Sulfate (SO4--), Nitrate (NO3-) and Silica SiO2). The IOX technology used to produce high purified water (< 0.02 μm) when followed by Mixed bed ion exchange column and used for a range of industries.

Typical Applications:

  • Steam generation for Petrochemical, chemical, Oil & Gas industries
  • Injection of water for Pharmaceutical and Autoclave steam disinfection
  • Steam generation for combined cycle power plant, thermal power plants
  • Food and beverage especially within the win industries
  • Semi-conductor industries
