Mist generated
by machining, forming and other manufacturing
operations, in automotive, aerospace,
can making and other metalworking
industries, can affect OSHA and EPA
compliance. Kirk & Blum's 3-
and 4-stage Mist Collectors eliminate
these problems efficiently and economically
at volumes from 2,000 CFM to 24,000
CFM. The collector employs primary
and secondary separation before mist
enters the media, contributing to
longer filter media life.

Filter Stage
Description
1. INERTIAL SEPARATION STAGE
This section centrifuges the
incoming air stream, significantly
reducing the loading to the coalescing
filter stage of the collector.
The physical configuration of
the unit wrings out the heaviest
droplets and delivers them to
the drain of the unit. It also
allows the unit to be chip-tolerant,
delivering errant metal particles
to the clean-out area of the
housing.
2. COALESCING PREFILTRATION
STAGE
This reusable, high-capacity,
high-performance prefilter stage
coalesces the mist in the air
stream and delivers it to the
drain. The high relationship
of metal mesh filter media to
face area traps and holds chips
and dust, contributing to longer
intermediate and final filter
life. It is removable and designed
to be steam cleaned.
3. A) "POCKET" FINAL
FILTER STAGE
This replaceable final filter
stage consists of pleated pockets
of spun-bound, ultra-fine glass
fiber. It is laminated inside
and out to a NY-Gard scrim. The
media is factory attached to
a rigid frame which is clamped
into the unit. Each pocket is
attached to support rods in the
unit.
3B & 3C) "CARTRIDGE" INTERMEDIATE
AND FINAL FILTER STAGE
This replaceable filter stage
consists of pleated high-density
microfine glass fiber. It is
laminated to a Cerex scrim. The
media is bonded to a welded wire
support grid to provide consistent
integrity and performance reliability
throughout the filter's life.
The media is then factory assembled
within a rigid housing which
is clamped into the unit.
4. "CARTRIDGE" HEPA-STYLE
FINAL FILTER STAGE
This replaceable filter stage
consists of pleated high-strength,
micro fiber glass paper. It provides
95% efficiency on 0.3 micron
particles. The standard cartridge
employs aluminum pleat separators.
Separatorless construction is
available as an option. The media
is completely chemically encapsulated
to a rigid housing which is clamped
into the unit.
