Case History - Foundries

Kirk & Blum has been involved in many AFS industrial ventilation research projects. Our experience includes all aspects of foundry ventilation including melting, pouring, lost foam systems, casting cleaning operations, sand systems, and all of the other industrial ventilation problems the foundry industry faces.

A foundry is a good place to work today, when dust and fumes are controlled by Kirk & Blum systems.

The foundry, with effective dust control, profits in reduced maintenance, higher employee morale, better plant-community relations, and overall efficiency. You will find Kirk & Blum systems in leading foundries, controlling dust and fumes on all foundry operations.

Custom designed arc-furnace hood. Note that the hood rides the furnace to provide exhaust during melting, slagging and pouring.

A battery of nine wet scrubbers serving a large production foundry.

Mold conveyor tunnel with air supply and exhaust arrangement installed in a modern automotive foundry.
Sand reclamation equipment dust control system. Note the use of a "horizontal type" primary collector to return usable material back to the system.
Dust control piping on automated casting cleaning equipment.

Two batteries of modular type dust collectors. The six modules to the left serve this foundry's melting equipment. The twelve modules to the right serve an entire molding line which utilizes the "no bake" process.
