Refractory,
stone, clay, pottery, and cement
plants are among those in the
general field of ceramics that
profit from Kirk & Blum
dust control systems. Benefits
cited include recovery of useful
raw materials, improvement
in working conditions, and
protection of men and equipment
against abrasive material.
Shown on these pages are only
a selection of K&B systems
in this area.
Refractory
plant with complete dust control
system designed, fabricated,
and installed by K&B. This
is one of twenty-nine such
systems developed for thirteen
plants of this leading manufacturer
of refractory material.
Before
the installation of the Kirk & Blum
dust control system, this
stone quarry chip plant had
a fog of stone dust obscuring
vision, creating abrasive
problems, and fogging the
atmosphere in the community.
Yet, it was no worse than
similar plants.
"When
we started the K&B dust
control system," reports
the project engineer, "for
the first time in our history
we could see across the chip
plant." In just six weeks
of operation 800 tons of saleable
stone dust were reclaimed from
the atmosphere.
Shown
is the effective handling
of dust control at a reversing
shuttle conveyor delivering
material to a row of bins.
The self-sealing header provides
suction automatically all
along the line of conveyor
travel, with no manual adjustment
required. The result is efficient
control on a difficult dust
source.
