CECO ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTS RECORD $15.5 MILLION IN NEW ORDERS IN AUGUST

NEW YORK, September 7, 2004 - CECO Environmental Corp. (NASDAQ: CECE) today announced that it has received $15.5 million in new orders in August marking a single month booking record in all of CECO's twenty-five year history.

CECO reported that the new orders came from a diverse group of industrial sectors and that all of CECO's operating divisions have contributed to these bookings and all divisions will also participate in their completion.

Richard J. Blum, President, said "We are extremely pleased with the current level of bookings signifying CECO's strong recognition in the market place. These new orders substantially rebuild CECO's backlog and come at a time when CECO has increased its operating efficiencies resulting in higher margin business for the company." Mr. Blum added, "Future order levels are not guaranteed, however, August does signify a turning point that market conditions are improving. September is off to a good start as well."
